SAIIE remains the voice of the industrial engineering profession in Southern Africa, actively engaging in discussions and debates that shape the future of our field. From advocating for the scope and breadth of industrial engineering in the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)’s Identification of Engineering Work (IDoEW) to addressing challenges in public infrastructure, we're dedicated to driving positive change and progress. By being a SAIIE member, you enable us to continue this important work that supports your discipline and ultimately your career.

SAIIE's commitment to fostering growth and innovation continues with our activities for learning, collaboration, and professional development. Our internationally accredited, open-source journal, SAJIE (The South African Journal of Industrial Engineering), provides an avenue for up-and-coming researchers to publish their work and engage in conversations with researchers and practitioners across the globe. SAIIE is one of the few voluntary associations in Southern Africa that runs an annual conference with published proceedings. Our conference is described by many members as the highlight of the year, bringing together our community for days filled with fun, networking and the birth of unstoppable ideas. Members are further spoilt with exclusive industry tours to some of the biggest companies and best-kept secrets in our region.  To celebrate and recognise our amazing members, we host an annual awards dinner that showcases outstanding industrial engineering work across the spectrum from research and teaching, to our student branches and work conducted in industry.

As an ECSA-recognised voluntary association, SAIIE is committed to supporting all our members on their professional registration journeys. This includes awareness campaigns for our student members, a range of initiatives for both young and mature practitioners to register and a wide variety of free and discounted continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities. Our members can attend free Road-to-Registration webinars, our one-of-a-kind facilitated registration writing retreats or connect with an experienced mentor. Members can also access free webinars, attend our conference, publish in our journal and mentor others - all of which attract CPD points.

As our region grows and adapts to the contextual and global challenges around us, SAIIE responds with further initiatives to enable members to connect and share ideas and a platform to make a tangible difference. Our AgriSIG and HealthSIG are two such initiatives which we believe will make a meaningful contribution to our society.

SAIIE also has a range of partners which extend your exposure to industrial engineering and associated disciplines. Partner events and opportunities are shared with members in our monthly newsletter. SAIIE members also have an exclusive discount to join the International Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE) which extends the benefits to an international community, resources, conferences and accredited professional development opportunities.   

When you become a SAIIE member, you can boast this association by using the distinctive title OMSAIIE and FSAIIE to show others that you are proud of your profession and support the work of our institution.  Our member certificates are also certified with a digital PrivySeal protecting the authenticity of our membership.
